About us

The owners, Csaba and Elizabeth Csörge, collectors for 40 years, chose the company name without mock modesty - at the founding in 1989 - with the intention of creating a quality in the Hungarian antique business that has intellectual similarity to the Persian king's richness.

Their ars poetica resembles the daily connection of human and art, and the harmony of living space and the surroundings with the presentation of the historical past. Furniture, restored on high quality and other pieces of art of several centuries are also presented in a flat-like display, easing the sight for the visitor.

The past 20 years of the company's life was filled with numerous public success: the organization of exhibitions, supporting the professional work of museums and the leader of the company was the art advisor of the President of the Hungarian Academy of Science for six years.

CNN Travel recommends our shop amongst the top three antique shops in Budapest: "Darius Antiques sells top-notch furnishings, weapons, rugs and paintings from the 19th and 20th centuries."

The Lonely Planet mentions us: "This shop sells antique furniture, paintings, glass, porcelain, clocks and weapons; it’s a good option on V Falk Miksa utca and the owner is particularly knowledgable and helpful."

The Forbes magazine also introduced our shop to their US readers back in the 90s.
